Our first experience in breeding dogs dates as far back as 1940/42 with Dachshund in GERMANY, followed by English Cocker in PAKISTAN. But it was here in Brazil in 1979 when we registered our kennel that we started breeding with more consistancy, this time Dobermann Pinscher which we still do breed.

In 1987 we decided to rear NA additional breed – however of small bearing.

We searched, consulted, investigated and decided for the WESTIE.

After all – why WESTIE ?

As Dobermann – breeders with already many years of experience we had with us as examples our Dobe’s – temperamental, reliable, sure of themthelves, unafraid and very much connected to the family – we looked for these characteristics in our "new dog" and found all these in the WESTIE.

Having decided we could NOT FIND ANY BREEDER OF WESTIES IN BRAZIL.

A new investigation started and we soon came to the conclusion that only a few bloodlines could be considered very good to start a serious and responsible work which always was our aim.

Thus we arrived at "MAC KEN CHAR’S KENNEL" (USA), one of the leading breeders of WESTIE's in the States ( if not the best ! ) . This kennel was and is breeding mainly with dogs from "OLAC KENNEL" of ENGLAND, one of the most regarded Westie – kennels to date all around the world.

It was from Mac-Ken-Char’s we purchased our first two WESTIES, assisted by our friend CELSO SCHNEIDER.

Shortly after we baught three more from GERMANY, offspring of the best and most traditional bloodline of EUROPE and a female from ENGLAND from a well known excellent bloodline.

what is our objective ?

We do try to preserve the quality of our WESTIE’s, breeding in accordance with the standart of the breed of it’s country of origin – England.

The integrity of a breed can be harmed to a very large extend by ignorance and lack of precaution by the breeder. Comportment and structural development of a WESTIE do not only depend on the surroundings where he was bred but is directly connected to his genetic code.

Every breeder should be aware of the virtues and the defects of his dogs and should exclude from reproduction those who are excessivly nervous, do bark consistantly, do have structural defects or carry and transmit hereditary diseases.

A breeder suffering from the so called "Kennel Blindness" will never succeed to improve his breeding.

A responsible breeder should never forget that there does exist a breed standart for each and every breed, a standart which should be consulted frequently to avoid deviation in structure, comportment and genetics.
